Event Details

9 – 14+
Part 1: Friday February 11, 1 – 2 pm
Part 2: Friday February 18, 1 – 2 pm

The creative video workshop is a beginner’s course in film-making. The goal is to create a short video production from start to finish. Part 1 will consist of brief lessons in script writing and the basics of storytelling, sound recording and cinematography (composition, lighting and the different types of shots). Between sessions, participants will have time to shoot their movie. During Part 2, participants will learn how to edit. Depending on the participants’ progress, films may be viewed and shared.
Materials for Part 1: A video camera. I recommend either an iPad/Tablet or a smart phone. If the participant has a camcorder/DSLR camera and already knows how it works that is fine too.
Materials for Part 2: Editing software. I recommend Capcut (FREE download for iPads, iPhones, Androids, Tablets), so that we’re all on the same page. But if the student prefers another software and already knows it, that is fine. Other software I recommend are iMovie (FREE for Mac computers, iPads, iPhones), Adobe Premiere (for advanced users and NOT FREE, for PC or Mac). Access to lights and microphones are a plus but they are optional.
