Lanterns Galore!

Is there anything more magical than lanterns lighting up the night sky? Participate in the beautiful River of Lights festival from your very own home! In this workshop you will learn how to create and design a variety of lanterns using paper, glass jars and other recycled materials. No art experience necessary. Come and join in the fun!

Target Age group: 7 and up

Materials: Empty glass jar, plastic soda or water bottles (clear), tin can, milk cartons (all rinsed out) or thin cardboard (cereal box or something similar), cardstock or construction (paper lantern), tissue paper, gift wrap, recycled paper, Exacto box cutter or tin snips, cutting board, stapler, white glue and glue brush, varnish or mod-podge if you have, twine or pipe cleaners or wire cutter and needle-nose pliers to manipulate wire, supplies for decorating (e.g., Sharpies for plastic bottles, markers, paint, coloured tape), LED battery operated tealights, hammer and awl or nail, wire, ribbon or string to hang lantern
