Taia Goedert is a percussionist and music educator with 20 years of experience in teaching music in daycares, schools, community projects and university programs. Born in Brazil and based in Montreal, her work is focused on playing and teaching percussion and Brazilian music. Taia Goedert is a PhD student in Music Education at McGill. She is also the co-founder of the music program Les Brasileirinhos and Choeur Scénique Brésilien.

Creative Approach and Experiences Offered

As a musician specialized in percussion and Brazilian music, I have interest and experience in teaching the following subjects:
- Brazilian percussion
- Body percussion and movement
- Alternative percussion using everyday objects (tables, chairs, household utensils, brooms, among others)
- Bucket drumming
- Brazilian folk songs, rhythms and dances

In my classes and workshops students learn music by MAKING MUSIC. Through a playful environment, I always seek to create a space where students have the opportunity to participate creatively, improvising and composing small pieces of music. Although the focus of my workshops is the process the students will be involved in and not the result, at the end of the workshops, I always try to show a small sample of what we work and learn together, through a live performance or even producing a video.
