As a teaching artist, I am dedicated to promoting working with clay as a positive learning experience that triggers feelings of fun, curiosity, a sense of observation and humility. I’ve been experimenting with different clay techniques for the past 8 years and have found that working with matter brings focus and peacefulness. I’ve also been giving workshops in daycares, schools and family-oriented community centers for the past 10 years in various forms of art.

Creative Approach and Experiences Offered

Working with clay is a creative challenge that helps us connect with our doubts and vulnerabilities. In a relaxed and playful context, the child must call upon decision-making skills, observation and intuition. Starting off simple by viewing an already made example, the first workshop will be dedicated to hand-building. The second workshop will be all about applying underglazes (colors) to our pieces that have undergone a bisque firing. With presence, care and support, the artist will accompany the children throughout the entire process. If desired by the teacher, the artist may also be present a third time to give out the finished pieces (that will have been glaze fired) and help facilitate a moment for storytelling about our pieces.
