I want to help students to learn all about listening! There are more ways to listen than you would think! There's also so much we can learn about our environment through listening. I enjoy helping people understand how sound works through a wide variety of activities. This goes hand in hand with understanding how our voices actually work. We can learn the science of the voice, and also explore making a new kind of vocal music together. https://kathykennedy.ca/sound-art/hmmm/

Creative Approach and Experiences Offered

The HMMM project has been uniting participants from all walks of life through workshops that explore vocal skills, listening skills and acoustic ecology. I aim to educate audiences about our sonic environment, the principles of acoustics and the physiology of the human voice. HMMM workshops consist of a balanced combination of information, activities and games. Important musical skills can be explored without focussing on traditional singing, encouraging all students to be on an equal footing. HMMM reinforces themes of creativity, inclusivity, team building and environmental awareness.
