MOVING STORIES with Stephanie Fromentin

Moving Stories is a movement workshop which incorporates a written element of journaling and brainstorming for creative inspiration. We initially discuss ideas of a personal nature that affect us and our individual selves, like the story of our grandparents, or our family tree, our cultural background, etc. Students are encouraged to write a personal story that they can then put into movement via key words and a sequence of gestures. Movement phrases are shared either in solo format or to be learned in a group to create a larger collective choreography that we can share at the end of our workshop together.

Materials: Notebook and a pen or pencil. Small recording device if participants wish to record their movement phrases to return to them in the future or to film the group. Access to an MP3 cord and a sound system for music to be played from a laptop or phone. Adequate clean floor for moving (standing and on the floor).
