SNEAK PEEK INTO CIRCUS & DREAM IT, DANCE IT! with Anna Protsiou
Students will be introduced to the circus disciplines of hand-balancing and contortion. The workshop will start off by providing information about the history of circus, and the circus scene in Quebec. After the introduction, students will have the opportunity to be more physical, warm up and learn some introductory skills. This next part of the workshop takes more of a creative approach to movement. Students will discover the main principles of contemporary dance and explore new pathways of moving. They will then have a chance to ignite their creativity through guided improvisation.
Themes: The workshop has some clear elements of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts obviously…, and Mathematics)
Materials: Yoga mats or other mats, clear open space for moving, audio system
Grade Levels: Elementary Cycle 1, 2, 3, Secondary Grades 7-11
