WHAT MAKES ME, ME? METAL EMBOSSING with Deirdre Potash

Heraldry is the science and art of describing coats-of-arms, which were originally used in the Middle Ages to
distinguish participants in battle. Using symbols to describe themselves, students will create an embossed
metal coloured personal crest.

This workshop focuses on personal identity, with the use and understaning of symbolism and inspired by history and the world around us.

Themes: The workshop has some clear elements of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts obviously…, and Mathematics)

Materials: Paper, pencil, metal sheet, permanent markers.

Grade Levels: Kindergarten, Elementary Cycle 1, 2, 3, Secondary Grades 7-11
