GIFT: IMPROVISING EMPATHY with Louise Campbell

This workshop dives into using music and art as a way to better understand each other. Students learn basic improvisational structures that provide a framework for making music based on their personal experiences. Small groups use an active listening structure to reflect each other’s experiences and confirm their understandings of these experiences. A One Day Event featuring live performances of music from Gift, a concert of video-music pieces co-created with and by people living with exceptionalities.

Themes: The workshop has some clear elements of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts obviously…, and Mathematics)

Materials: Band or orchestral instruments, voice, found objects
