COSMOS – PAINT THE PLANETS with Mary Hayes
Take on the universe and learn how simple it can be to draw planets, asteroids and shooting stars!
We begin by tracing circles of various sizes, adding shades, textures and colour. Flat circles are transformed into spheres – planets!
This workshop is adaptable to most age groups and levels of ability. It can be applied to STEM learning about the solar system, as individual drawings that students may take home, or a as collective mural.
Themes: The workshop has some clear elements of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts obviously…, and Mathematics)
Materials: “Cosmos” can be created as black and white drawings ( charcoal) coloured drawings (markers) or as paintings in gouache or watercolour. Materials: Lids of various sizes from a bottle cap, yogurt containers, and empty paint cans. 8 x 10” or larger paper. Choice of dry media – pencils, erasers, crayons, markers and/or wet media: watercolour or gouache.
Grade Levels: Elementary Cycle 2, 3, Secondary Grades 7-11
