Introduced and taught steelpan programs to Montreal public schools and communities since 1990. Taught at the TDSB while completing a PhD in ethnomusicology at York University. Established a family steelpan school to promote the culture. Family music group, steelpan workshops, lectures on cultural history, authored steelpan textbooks. Excited to teach and share these cultural experiences. My aspirations: that steelpan programs become accredited programs in Montreal public schools like Toronto.

Creative Approach and Experiences Offered

In my workshops, everyone is involved, everyone participates, everyone gets the opportunity to fully express themselves. Steelpan workshops offer the abilty to learn at your speed. It all depends on the level that one wishes to attain. Classes are available for beginners, intermediate and advanced level. In addition, you get to learn the history about this wonderful instrument and its diffusion to the rest of the world from its place of origin Trinidad. You get to learn the techniques of playing and control of the instrument at the same time you learn the music theory that goes with each session. The end point is a full compliment of information on steelpan music. You also get to be a part of a group ensemble, that may be able to participate in public performance during that period.
