Heather Hardie is a queer interdisciplinary visual artist and art educator based in Tiohtià:ke / Montreal. She studied Interdisciplinary Fine Arts at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, and has a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a Specialization in Art Education from Concordia University. For the past 11 years she has worked as an art educator in various schools within the EMSB. Her specialties include painting murals, illustration / design, and mixed media sculpture.

Creative Approach and Experiences Offered

This year Heather is offering mural projects for your school. You are eligible for up to 10 hours of mural painting plus a “One Day Event” to add more time and funding as needed.

To maximize time with the artist, the school can work on priming the walls / surfaces to be painted in advance. The plan or design for the mural can also be planned in advance over email.

Example of time breakdown:

Day 1: Introduction, planning, sketching
Day 2: Painting the background
Day 3-5: Painting the design or the foreground, final touches.

How much can we paint?

85 square ft —> 6 hours for an 8.5 x 10 ft piece
162 square ft —> 10 hours for a 16 x 10 ft piece
650 square ft —> 40 hours for a 65 x 10 ft piece*

*If you would like a larger scale mural than the grant will allow, additional funding can be used to compensate the artist. I am an EMSB employee and can be paid easily through the school board though project requests / other funding.
