WEST AFRICAN DRUMMING with Fana Soro (Regional Artist: WQSB)

Fana Soro introduces participants to traditional rhythms and songs of the djembé, West Africa’s most popular
drum. Participants will gain a basic understanding of the drumming connected to the dances and songs of the
Senoufo culture.

Themes: This workshop provides an opportunity for discussion about belonging in Quebec in the general sense and as
a member of the BIPOC community.

Materials: For online workshops, schools must provide percussion instruments.

Grade Levels: Elementary Cycle 1, 2, 3, Secondary Grades 7-11
