POPULAR MUSIC HISTORY AND CREATIVE SONGWRITING – A FUN AND INSPIRING MUSICAL JOURNEY with Rob Lutes

In this two-part workshop, Canadian Folk Music Award-winning songwriter Rob Lutes brings students on an inspiring journey through the surprising history of popular music, telling stories of important songs and using a range of instruments to perform them. (Students can try these post-workshop.) Part one concludes with a group songwriting exercise. In part two, Rob offers students tools and tips for creativity as they write their own lyrics. Then Rob acts as co-writer with each student, setting music to their newly written lyrics as they experience the exhilarating trial and error process at the birth of every song.
