- Music & Sound in Schools: Listening, Playing and Adapting to Current Times
I am a professional singer-songwriter with eight albums and an extensive touring history in Canada, the US and Europe. I have given songwriting and music workshops in schools since 2000, and have developed extended programs with schools and worked with a number of groups.
I teach songwriting and creativity, helping young people bypass their own internal critic to allow themselves the joy of creation. Over the years, I have developed techniques that inspire, engage and empower youth.

Creative Approach and Experiences Offered
I enjoy working with kids and youth of all ages, and I know the value of songwriting and creativity. I also know the value of understanding a bit of the history of western popular music, through the blues, which is the root of most styles we listen to today.I use a bit of history to enter the world of songwriting. As we explore both, I work to keep students highly engaged in whatever activity we are doing. I keep the segments short and focused and I ensure we share our creative work with each other. We enter a zone where we are free to express ourselves and we support others in that activity. This activity is suitable for students from grade 3 to CEGEP.
I also offer a series of four workshop entitled "4 Melodies, 4 Moments - A Selective History of Popular Music" which explores four key songs from the past in the context of their musical and cultural history, and serves as a fascinating introduction into the history of Western popular music.
