MY PUZZLE IS YOUR SOUND: FIELD RECORDING with Joey Zaurrini
My Puzzle is Your Sound is a workshop exploring sound as a portal into the everyday happenings around us, and how to capture these moments using both a field recorder, and a paper and pen. Together, we’ll take a deep dive into our soundscape by soundwalking, conducting field recordings and making soundmaps together. I’ll teach participants how to use a field recorder, reflect on their inner worlds in connection with the outside world, and how to draw representations of their listening experiences in the form of colourful and personal soundmaps. What sounds stand out to us? Which are imperceptible? How does our relationship to place change as a result of active listening? These are the sorts of questions that the workshop addresses, along with plenty of time for playful improvisation, sharing, reflection and movement.
Themes: The workshop has some clear elements of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts obviously…, and Mathematics)
Materials: Field recorders provided by artist, paper, drawing material
