I am a professional stop motion animator and painter with a BA in Literature, BFA in Drawing and an MFA in Film Production. I have extensive experience teaching animation, painting, film, photograph and visual storytelling to all ages and experience levels. I specialize in stop-motion animation workshops, combining hands on crafting with digital technology to create expressive works of art that involve students in every step of the creative process, from conception to post production.

Creative Approach and Experiences Offered

My teaching focuses on sharing fundamental creative tools that inspire students to access their own unique expression. In one animation workshop, I began by playing students a quote from Montreal jazz legend Oscar Peterson talking about how growing up in the diverse and lively St. Henri neighborhood inspired his music. After demonstrating the fundamentals of animation, I divided students into groups and with paper and collage materials had them construct a shared creative neighborhood. They then created characters that would come together to ‘jam’, which could involve music or any expanded idea of jamming/creating together. This project taught students the basics of stop-motion animation, combining hand crafting and the use of technology, as well as illuminating a moment in Canadian history, sharing ideas of community and creativity and working together to achieve a project that allows for everyone's expression to emerge.
