CYANOTYPE GRATITUDE CARDS – PRINTING WITH LIGHT with Sabrina Bejba
Using the traditional cyanotype printing technique, participants will explore how to create with light. Participants will collect objects, choose photographs, create drawings and play around with varying compositions and layers. The question: “Who/what do we want to celebrate?” will guide discussions around how students will transform their prints into gratitude cards. The process for each print is about 15 minutes, which allows students to create multiple pieces and encourages experimentation and collaboration. Additional option: to create a large collaborative piece using fabric squares that can be gifted to a community.
Themes: The workshop has some clear elements of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts obviously…, and Mathematics)
Materials: Cyanotype mixture, watercolour paper or light cotton fabric, UV lamps, large storage bins, photo wash trays, flat cardboard or clipboards, acrylic sheets, acetate, small binder clips, access to a room with a sink nearby is helpful.
