I moved to Quebec City to do my master’s in fine arts three years ago. I am therefore new in the area, and I am looking forward to giving workshops because it's something I really enjoy. I've been working with encaustic since 2004 as the main medium in my practice. Recently I incorporated miniature sculptures, installations and aqua dispersion inks which I really enjoy as well. I am familiar with inks and encaustic workshops and have many different technics that I can show in both mediums.

Creative Approach and Experiences Offered

First, I teach about the origin of encaustic, where it comes from and how it's made. After, I show different artists who worked with encaustic at different times in the history. I present more recent works of actual artists in which I talk about my work. I have a PowerPoint presentation for this.

After, I do a demonstration on how we can use encaustic: with a paint brush, with different sculptural tools, with an iron, etc. So, for each tool, I show them how to use it. I show them different texture results that they can get depending on what tool they use and how they use it.

I show them the differences between the very opaque colors and the transparent ones and how they can play with those differences.

I explain how to use the colors around the hot plate as well so that they don't get mixed, and they are good to go and explore.

I am a very passionate artist who loves working and sharing with students.
