THE STORY AND SONGCRAFT OF AMAZING GRACE with Rob Lutes

Canadian Folk Music Award-winning songwriter Rob Lutes brings students on an inspiring journey through the creation and rise to prominence of one of the most popular and enduring songs in world history, Amazing Grace. Touching on the slave trade and its eventual abolition, American westward expansion and other themes, the workshop reveals the fascinating story behind the song and the unlikely role it has played in North American history into the 21st century. Rob then leads a group songwriting activity with the class to create a song in the spirit of this important work.
