Students will build a new best friend for themselves out of cardboard, and film their adventures together.
Materials: One sheet of cardboard approx 1m x 1m in size (could be from a recycled box, could be bristol board – just a cardboard that is fairly rigid), scissors, markers, tape that you can stick to a wall, 2 sticks (e.g. pencils, tree branches, chopsticks, etc. These will be stuck to the back of cardboard lips, so that we can control the lips from afar.), a filming device (e.g. mobile phone, tablet, webcam on a laptop computer)
Artist Bio: Daniel Hickie is a young people’s theatre artist, teacher and aspiring puppeteer. He grew up on Gadigal Land (Sydney, Australia) and since moving to Tio’tia:ke (Montreal) has worked as a teaching artist with Geordie Theatre, the Segal Centre, The Montreal Children’s Theatre and others. Daniel recently co-founded Young Hearts Theatre to bring theatre work to the young and young at heart.
