Eastern Townships native Roy MacLaren plays traditional music on the highland bagpipes, tenor banjo and tin whistle. An experienced performer and educator, he believes a good tune makes its own friends whether it comes from Quebec, Scotland, Ireland or elsewhere. When not performing with his band the Narrows, Roy is a licensed carpenter and teaches part time in the wood shop at a high school in the Eastern Townships.
Creative Approach and Experiences Offered
I offer an introduction to traditional music workshop that exposes students to Celtic and Quebec dance music.I also teach woodworking courses than can be tailored to the age group and skill level of the students.
