Poetry In Voice/Les voix de la poésie is a registered charity that wants all Canadians to speak poetry. Our Poet In Class program helps match educators with live poets who through multiple workshops, inspire their students to read, recite, and write poetry.

Creative Approach and Experiences Offered

Poetry In Voice poets are a diverse and talented group of page and spoken word poets, who work with educators to integrate poetry into their classrooms through multiple in-person or online workshops. Our poets are experts on topics such as “blackness in the diaspora ... indigenous language music video ... young children … displacement, politics, feminism, family … intersection of the written word with digital platforms … Experimental sound poetry, art, the environment, & intersectional social justice … popular culture, identity, migration, adoption, love, imagination, ethno-musicology, surrealist expression, love and the intersection of masculinity and emotional vulnerability … womanhood, social inequality, history, and family life. and spread the love of poetry. There is no end to the number of ways poetry can ignite the imagination and there is no better way for students to get excited about poetry than to invite a poet to the classroom.
