One-Day Event Description

1. Stories and Film from the Tlicho

This workshop would introduce the students to the Tlicho culture and their way of life. I would read from my book Journal of a Traveling Girl and show a slideshow from the canoe trip that inspired the book. I would screen the award winning short-film Wekweeti and Ekwo (Wekweeti and Caribou). I would give an artist talk about my time in the North, the making of the book and the film. I would also have Q&A with the students and play some songs that I wrote inspired by my time in Wekweeti.

This workshop can work with any number of students at a time.

This consists of doing an hour concert accompanied by multi-instrumentalist Adam Goulet for the students followed by an artist talk sharing how I write songs and record albums, how I began touring and some things I learned being mentored by Leonard Cohen. This will be accompanied by a Q&A.

This workshop can work with any number of students at a time.

3. Creative Expression through Voice, Movement and Writing

This is a hands-on workshop where participants are guided through their own experience of creation using improvised voice, movement and writing. They are empowered with various prompts and exercises to find their voice and self-expression. Initially everyone participates together, then the students take turns witnessing and being witnessed.
