I am a professional playwright, actor & musician. I have been teaching drama, music and visual art within the school system for 14 years. But I also do several independent programs on a smaller scale that involve me going into schools for shorter periods of time to create plays based on local history, or one day workshops on song writing, playwriting, and theatre. I use comedy improvisation and laughter therapy and bring students together with seniors for inter-generational creations.

Creative Approach and Experiences Offered

I use comedy improvisation and laughter therapy to bring the students together. I put a big emphasis on joy. Based on agreed upon themes or local history, I work with the students and staff to create, from scratch, all the dialogue, props, movement and music for a one-of-a-kind theatre performance. I begin with basic drama & music in the classroom, then bring the students out into the community to gather stories and songs. Putting seniors and students together is a priority as well as building strong bonds within the school and fostering community pride. I believe that bringing students out into the community, especially to create intergenerational connections, creates a strong sense of self and rightful place in the world. I have observed that when you set high expectations, the kids can more than surpass them.
