I am a Masters Degree Candidate at UQAM. My facilitation of dance projects include traditional and contemporary practices that are inclusive and incite freedom and wellness, body and environmental awareness, and social consciousness through playful and creative collaboration, cooperation and connection.
Creative Approach and Experiences Offered
I teach contemporary dance and anything in between and beyond. I create dance with any number of folk, for any skill level and ability, and with any theme. An example of my work includes Idealiscious: a 35 minute choreography, that draws inspiration from the alphabet, exploring ideas of wordplay and language It has toured schools in Newfoundland and Labrador, allowing upwards of 4000 individuals to participate in a performance and creative process. My projects capture the imagination of students – kindergarten and up. It gives them an outlet to witness how skills learned and knowledge acquired can be seen through the lens of art, performance and creative thinking. It helps them bridge the gap between curriculum and self-expression; it encourages them to think outside the box, be empathetic, celebrate individuality and collaboration.
My process is interactive and intuitive. Beginning with basics: space, shape and time, then build with what reflects back to me by the group.
