As an artist, designer, and educator, I believe the act of creating has the ability to empower and create deeper empathy for one another. In my six years of experience in the field of education I have welcomed all levels of participants and, similarly to my own practice, I encourage a focus on process. In the past I have lead workshops in vastly different mediums and in each I made efforts of being accommodating to the groups needs and interests ensuring inclusion and comfort of the students.

Creative Approach and Experiences Offered

Through a discussion between myself and the teacher of the class, we will decide the best workshop and level for the student participants, each workshop will be tailored to the new groups needs, customized for the schools facilities, and the season. The students will work with the selected media and will explore themes of identity, community, or contemporary events dependent on the skill level and curriculum. For instance, if the teacher selects collage and/or zine making as the principal medium, the students will be introduced to the history of zine making and different methods of creation. On the other hand if the choice of workshop is painting or drawing related, we will do a introduction to colour theory and how to use colour within the pictorial frame. Each workshop will be unique based on students' needs, facilities and levels. As an educator and artist I use process and tactility of the material to create a deeper connection and ability of self-expression.
