Creative Approach and Experiences Offered

My weekly podcast, "Cabin Tales: Spooky Stories for Young Writers" can replace or supplement school visits in 2020-21. Each episode has a creative-writing focus (e.g., character; setting) and offers an original story; excerpts from classics with commentary; story prompts and writing exercises; and author interview clips. Learn more at at https://CabinTales.ca. Use the podcast on your own or contact me regarding supplementary virtual visits. The original podcast is PG-13; "Fright-free" versions are offered for younger listeners.

When it's not a pandemic, I lead creative writing workshops tailored to the age of the audience (grades 4 through CEGEP), focussed on Character, Setting, Plotting, and Revision. Multiple sessions take students from story ideas through drafting and editing. I also give 1-hour author presentations tailored to the age of the audience (grades 1 through CEGEP), with a slide show, talk, reading and Q&A. Visit www.CatherineAusten.com for more information.
